One of my regular clients moved into a new home in Applecross.
Holy cow! It was quite the upgrade from their smaller 2 storey property.
It's a newly built residential home and it's big!
LARGE GLASS PANES AND LOUVRED WINDOWS
A beautiful home, but from a window cleaners perspective, there's a lot of glass!
It's a double storey home that has a lot of large windows and glass sliding doors.
There's also quite a few louvred windows tucked away in various spots throughout the property.
CLEANING LOUVRED WINDOWS
Louvered windows are a very practical window style for creating circulation and letting in fresh air.
But they are more time consuming to clean than standard glass.
I use the pure water system to clean this style of glass and not only is it quicker than the tradition method, it gives a far better result with clear spot free louvres.
There were sets of louvres that required a ladder to access them, as well as some floor to ceiling sets.
LARGE WINDOWS WITH COMFORT GLASS COATING
Certain tints like e-glass and comfort glass can really help reduce the amount of UV's as well as heat coming through a window.
These treatments are applied to the internal side of the glass, but it does create a slightly harder to clean window.
There's a couple of drawbacks, and one is if any builders muck like paint gets onto these coatings, there's no way to clean it off.
Anything slightly abrasive will scratch the tint.
Also, a squeegee won't slide as smoothly on these coatings, which can make cleaning high windows with an extension pole not an option.
So a ladder has to be maneuvered and secured safely, often on wood and tiled floors, to access these higher windows.
COURTYARD WINDOWS
This home had a number of courtyard areas off of different rooms.
The layout of the house meant working out ways to run my hose into these areas to use the pure water pole fed system.
It took a couple of visits as it was a large job.
But the finished result made such a huge improvement, all the dust and dirt removed leaving clear sparkling windows.
Living in a larger home does create a different level of property maintenance, and keeping the windows in good condition is part of that routine.
