WHY HAS THE WINDOW CLEANER LEFT MY WINDOWS WET?

There's nothing more satisfying than finally having the window cleaners arrive to get your dirty windows crystal clear again.

They finish the job and you excitedly take a look through your windows to realise some of them are still wet and are left with water droplets on the glass.

Before you rush to pick up your phone to complain, you can relax in the knowledge that they will dry perfectly clear.

WHY HAVEN'T THE WINDOW CLEANERS DRIED THE GLASS?

Over the last few years, most professional window cleaners have adopted the pure water system for cleaning external glass, myself included.

Windows don't require drying when cleaned with a pure water system because the water contains no contaminants, it dries off the glass leaving no stains or residue, just clean, clear windows.

There's two set-ups that can be used, and they both result in creating water that is void of any minerals and contaminants.

This is why the windows don't require drying.

There's various brushes and attachments that can be used for scrubbing the glass, but all windows will then be rinsed with the pure water.

Because the water has been filtered to remove all contaminants, it dries off leaving zero residue or water stains.

A TDS (total dissolved solids) meter is used to read the water purity, so there's no possibility of inadvertently rinsing your windows with contaminated water.

TWO SYSTEMS FOR CREATING PURE WATER

There's a couple of set-ups that are available to window cleaners for creating pure water for cleaning.

There's RO, which stands for Reverse Osmosis, and RI which is short for Deionization.

I won't bore you with the technical details in this article, but rest assured, both leave streak free results.

Personally, I have a dual tank Deionization set-up and and various brushes and scrubbers.

STREAK FREE RESULTS WITH PURE WATER

The wonderful thing about pure water is there's no possibility of streaking.

Even the most proficient and experienced window cleaner can still get the odd streak from using the soap and squeegee method.

Of course, any marks are detailed or cleaned off, but with pure water, the window glass is rinsed from corner to corner, edge to edge, leaving nothing but clear glass.

WHEN WARM WEATHER IS THE WINDOW CLEANERS (AND CUSTOMER'S) FRIEND

Back in the day, soaping up and squeegeeing a window in direct sun, especially on a hot day, was not only uncomfortable, but required a good two handed technique to make sure the glass didn't dry off before you finished squeegeeing.

Cleaning hot glass this way was also made more challenging if it was a hard to reach window whilst balancing on a ladder at the same time!

With a pole fed pure water system, warm weather is actually an advantage, as the windows dry off quickly.

Depending on the temperature, once your windows have been cleaned, it's best to let them dry before opening or closing them.

This will prevent any water that may be trapped in the frame from dribbling down onto the glass.
